A huge thank you to the PTA for making this event happen. Thank you also to everyone who came out to support our kids.
Students helped plant palo brea trees that will grow alongside them as they move from kindergarten through 6th grade – creating a lasting connection between their learning and our school environment. Along the way, they practiced real-world skills: digging with shovels, gently “tickling” the roots, and even “shaking hands” with their new trees as they welcomed them to campus.
Shoutout to Borton’s Cave Class for their amazing project driven by the question: “How does the cave environment shape the animals that live there?”
What made this project extra special was the way student voice and choice led the learning. Students created their own “need to know” questions based on their curiosity, built knowledge through research and exploration, and then shared their learning in creative ways they chose. From infographics and games to news scripts, each product showed their unique thinking and understanding.
Our 3rd graders have been exploring the diverse customs, traditions, and beliefs of Hispanic cultures! 💫
Throughout their project, students investigated their own wonderings about the geography, history, and cultural traditions of a self-selected Hispanic country, developing a deep appreciation for the richness and diversity within Hispanic communities.
As true Cultural Ambassadors, they shared their findings with classmates, Kindergarten students, and teachers, received feedback, and refined their presentations before proudly presenting to their families on Friday. 💬🎉
We are so proud of their curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and dedication to celebrating culture and learning!
Our K–5 runners were AMAZING at the cross country meet yesterday! They ran a whole mile around Reid Park. Congrats on our 1st graders who placed 4th and 9th and earned ribbons! Also our 5th graders placed 6th and 9th — awesome job!
